The Authority works with private developers to revitalize blighted, tax-reverted and functionally obsolete properties in Leelanau County. Financial tools include grant funding and tax increment  nancing. Brown eld Redevelopment Board is appointed by the Leelanau County Board of Commissioners and includes Kathy Egan, chair; Carolyn (Peachy) Rentenbach, vice-chair; Kate Sterken, treasurer; Chet
Janik, county administrator; Patricia Soutas-Little, commissioner; and Richard Foster and Randy Harrison.

LAND BANK FAST TRACK AUTHORITY (LBA)

Land banks are public authorities created to acquire, hold, manage and develop tax-foreclosed property, as well as other vacant, blighted, obsolete and abandoned properties.
In Leelanau County, members are John A. Gallagher III, chair; Trudy Galla, secretary; Chet Janik, treasurer; and Patricia Soutas-Little, Mark Walter, Bud Welch and Randy Harmson.

oversee preparation and implement of the County Master Plan. Commissioners also review changes to local zoning laws proposed by townships and villages in the county. Leelanau County owns three parks that fall under the jurisdiction of the Parks and Recreation Commission. They are Old Settler’s Picnic Grounds in Empire Township, Myles Kimmerly County Park in Kasson Township and Veronica Valley County Park. The Parks and Recreation Commission has been updating master plans for all three
parks. It also proposes park rule and policy changes to the County Board of Commissioners. Members include Casey Noonan, chairman; Dave Barrons, vice chairman; Steve Christensen, secretary; Clayton Ball; Bob Johnson; Melinda Lautner; John Popa; Kyle Trevas; Ty Wessell and Todd Yeomans.
SOLID WASTE COUNCIL

The Leelanau County Solid Waste Council oversees the recycling efforts in Leelanau County.The council is also charged with updating and carrying out the Solid Waste Management Plan.
